Anti-Bridging Port Control for Laptops and
Tablet PCs with Network Connectivity
Enable / disable communication adapters to enforce a strict data security policy

Wireless Bridging Attacks
Designed for small-medium business and enterprise environments, AirStop® Multiport ensures that:
- Only a single communication
adapter can be used during a given computing session. This setup
protects the corporate network from "Wireless Bridging" attacks.
- Simultaneous connection between a
computer logged into the network and outsiders are prevented, thereby eliminating any
unintended bridges to mission-critical servers and confidential
information.
Advantages of Disabling Secondary Ports
If AirStop Multiport senses the use of a wired Ethernet connection, it automatically disables all other communications
adapters. Such a situation is common both in the office environment as
well as on the road.
In the office,
a laptop may automatically set up a connection – without the intention
of its owner – to one of the public WiFi networks, such as the one provided by the local café in the
building. An alternate scenario may be hackers actively looking for a
“back door” into the company by dialing into an unsuspecting employee’s installed fax/modem.
Ouside the office, a tablet PC – such as the ones installed in police patrol cars – often provide hackers a 3G gateway that they can exploit to access the central command station’s entire communications network.
Once the Ethernet plug is removed, all adapters are immediately enabled and return to their previous states.
Approving Communication Ports
AirStop
Multiport controls all communication adapters on laptop, tablet PC and
desktop computers to prevent “data leakage” by enforcing an approved
multiple port configuration.
- IT professional who defines corporate security policy enables only the specific adapters that may be used and their order of importance. This robust endpoint security solution is enforced at the administrative level.
- No unauthorized direct device access. This prevents and network bridging that could otherwise be set up via the built-in communications ports.
- AirStop Multiport is password protected. An end-user – even by users with administrative rights – is not
permitted to remove or re-configure the software
Communications Adapters List
AirStop Multiport can identify and disable any of the following communication adapters, as defined by the IT manager during setup:
- LAN
- WLAN
- Cellular / 3G
- Bluetooth
- Fax / Modem
- Firewire.
Options for each port include:
- Always ON
- Always OFF
- Controlled by AirStop.
