Code Red was founded in 2001 by a group of highly experienced entrepreneurs and funded by JC Technologies and Patir R&D Ltd. Based in Jerusalem, Israel, the company draws on the hands-on experience of the core team in both military and civilian data security applications. The founders have extensive experience in the Israeli military, as well as civilian involvement with leading security companies such as the the Norton Group, Checkpoint and NDS (a data security subsidiary of News Corp).

The company specializes in wireless security solutions, specifically for the IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) wireless LAN protocol. From a development perspective the company uses a middleware approach to security management based on the emerging IEEE 802.1x and 802.1i security standards.

In addition to the release of its AirBlock 802.11 Security Software for the small to medium business market, the company also implements customized solutions based on the AirBlock technology for industrial and retail wireless applications.

Code Red software solutions are hardware independent, and are dedicated to preservation of 802.11 interoperability, which has been one of the key factors fueling the impressive growth of the WLAN market. The underlying architecture is modular and flexible in order to accommodate multiple computing environments and emerging security standards.
